Have you ever felt a stillness amidst the urban clamor? Here, on Lodhi Road, near the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, sits the Sri Sai Ram Temple. It offers just that. The Sri Sai Ram Temple, also known as the Shirdi Sai Baba Mandir, stands as a beacon of peace. It’s a relatively old temple in Delhi, established in August 1972. The temple’s exterior is unassuming. Yet, within its walls, a golden majesty unfolds. The main hall is air-conditioned. A golden crown adorns the central statue of Sai Baba. This Sri Sai Ram Temple is a testament to the devotion of the Sai Baba community. Two businessmen, Shri Bhag Chand Taneja and Shri Krishan Chand Dhawan, spearheaded the project. They envisioned a place where devotees could honor Shirdi Sai Baba. The construction was a collaborative effort, overseen by M/s Pardhan Ghosh & Associates. The main contractor, Mr. Chitnis, ensured the temple’s careful realization. Devotees come to the Sri Sai Ram Temple to offer chadars, flowers, and sweets. Thursdays are particularly busy. The temple resonates with the spirit of Sai Baba. He was a revered figure, admired by both Hindus and Muslims. He emphasized unity and peace. His teachings, a blend of Hindu and Islamic elements, focused on love, forgiveness, and inner peace. The Sri Sai Ram Temple embodies these values. It provides a sanctuary from the city’s relentless pace. Daily aartis (prayers) fill the air: Kakad Aarti at dawn, Noon Aarti at midday, Dhoop Aarti at sunset, and Shej Aarti at night. These rituals mark the rhythm of the temple. They invite a moment of reflection and connection. The Sri Sai Ram Temple’s simplicity and serenity offer a unique experience in bustling Delhi. It stands as a reminder of the power of faith and the pursuit of inner peace.
