Pause a moment to appreciate the vibrant colors adorning Sri Maha Muniswarar. It is more than just a temple. It is a testament to faith and community. Sri Maha Muniswarar stands as a beacon of spiritual solace.

Let’s step back in time to the humble beginnings of Sri Maha Muniswarar. In 1930, Tamil settlers in Ampang built a small shrine. It was a simple hut. It served as their place of worship. This marked the start of something special. The shrine was dedicated to Muniswarar. He is an avatar of Lord Siva.

Over time, the community grew and their devotion deepened. They decided to build a proper temple. Resources were limited. Construction stalled. The descendants of the settlers pooled their funds. They built a brick and mortar temple. But they ran out of money. Work stopped.

Then came a turning point for Sri Maha Muniswarar. Mani, a bodyguard, approached his boss Dato Sri Liow Soon Hee. He asked for help to complete the temple. Dato Sri Liow Soon Hee visited the unfinished temple. He was impressed by the devotees. He decided to donate RM 500,000.

Dato Sri Liow Soon Hee is not Hindu. He believes in helping all religions. He believes all religions are for the betterment of mankind. His generous contribution breathed new life into the project of Sri Maha Muniswarar. The statues on the roof were painted. The ceilings and pillars were beautifully adorned.

In November 2020, Dato Sri Liow Soon Hee presented a RM 100,000 cheque to the temple committee. This contribution ensured the completion of all statues and artwork. It is a testament to interfaith harmony.

Sri Maha Muniswarar embodies the spirit of unity and devotion. It stands as a symbol of faith. It also shows community collaboration. The original small statue of Muniswarar is still here. It reminds us of the humble beginnings. The temple welcomes everyone regardless of background.

Notice the three rings on Lord Muniswarar’s fingers. I wore three identical rings. They were designed as Ganesha. I felt very blessed. Muniswarar had one hand wearing three rings.

Take a moment to appreciate the deities. Lord Muniswarar is seated in royal ease. Ganesha is the elephant-headed God. The nine planets of our solar system are represented.

Sri Maha Muniswarar continues to evolve. It provides a serene environment. People come here for prayer and reflection. This is a place where faith and generosity intertwine. It creates a sacred space for all. It is a place of worship for many. It is a place of peace.
