Imagine a Brussels square named after a baron. This is the Square Baron Robert Hankar. It sits in Auderghem near the Chaussée de Wavre.

Square Baron Robert Hankar has a story. In the early 1950s, EGIMO began building a new area. It was between the Halle-Vilvoorde railway line and other landmarks. Avenue Lebon became its main street.

The town council named the square Square Baron Robert Hankar. The naming happened on April 6, 1959. It honored Baron Robert Hankar.

Robert Hankar was born in Ensival. His birthdate was in 1882. He passed away in La Hulpe in 1963. Robert was the son of Baron Florimond Hankar. He led EGIMO’s board. EGIMO had a big job in this area. The town gave EGIMO this important task. Baron Robert Hankar was special. He was the only noble to have his title on his plaque.

The first building permit was issued. It was for number 4. This happened in 1954. The Hankar metro station is nearby. It provides easy access to the square.
