Can a church be more than just a building? At Southeast Church of the Nazarene, it certainly is. Located on the corner of 36th and National Avenue in San Diego, Southeast Church of the Nazarene has a rich history intertwined with the heart of the 92113 neighborhood. The church’s story began in 1962 with three African American families. These families shared a powerful vision: to serve Jesus and build His church in their community. Southeast Church of the Nazarene has grown significantly since its humble beginnings. It now embraces families from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Yet, the core mission remains the same: serving Jesus and nurturing the 92113 community. Today, Southeast Church of the Nazarene continues to thrive. It offers a variety of services to its congregation and the wider community. Sunday morning worship takes place from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, followed by a shared lunch. Sunday evenings are dedicated to Bible study at 6:00 pm. On Fridays, the church hosts a community dinner at 6:00 pm as part of its Table Ministry. Afterward, age-appropriate Bible classes begin at 7:00 pm. The church’s mission is simple yet profound: to live gracefully and faithfully under the Lordship of Jesus Christ within the 92113 neighborhood. Southeast Church of the Nazarene isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a vibrant hub where faith, community, and service intersect. It is a testament to the enduring power of faith and the transformative impact of a shared vision.
