South Oceanside United Methodist Church

Before the South Oceanside United Methodist Church stood tall there was another church. The oldest church building in Oceanside was built by the Congregationalists in 1886. They sold it to the Methodists in 1896. It became the First United Methodist Church. Methodist services continued there until September 1995. That’s when the First United Methodist Church merged with our South Oceanside United Methodist Church. This merger marked a significant moment in Oceanside’s religious history. It united two congregations into one stronger faith community. The building at 625 Seagaze Drive. It’s a place where people found solace. The church at the southwest corner of Seagaze and Ditmar Street holds a special place in the hearts of many. Several other churches have called this building home since the merger. It’s a testament to the enduring spirit of faith in Oceanside. Today the building is home to Calvary Chapel Living Hope church. The legacy of the South Oceanside United Methodist Church lives on.
