The term Songket comes from the word ‘sungkit’ meaning ‘to hook’. Songket represents luxurious hand-woven silk. Cotton textiles are intricately designed. Traditional patterns use gold or silver threads. This creates a shimmering effect. It belongs to the heritage of Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei. The opulent textile is usually worn during special occasions. It becomes traditional national costumes representing its heritage. Strategically located along Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, Songket Restaurant is hidden away in a quiet enclave. It is opposite Ibis Hotel and behind a row of shophouses. It’s a short stroll from Kuala Lumpur’s iconic landmark KLCC. The magnificent Petronas Twin Towers are nearby.

Songket Restaurant resembles a “kampung” house. It has a maximum seating capacity of 300. It is ideal for events and parties. There is a spacious environment and ample free parking. Songket Restaurant also has one gorgeous private dining room. It accommodates up to 12 persons comfortably.

The restaurant serves authentic high-quality Malay cuisine. It’s inspired by traditional Malay recipes. Only the freshest ingredients are used. The menu is vast. It offers Malay dishes from many parts of Malaysia.

Start with Songket’s signature appetizers. Chicken and Beef Satay features lean chunks of meat. They are well marinated in spices and honey. Cucur Udang is lovely morsels of fried prawn fritter. Pegedil is fried patties of mashed potato with minced chicken. Otak Otak is a seafood mousse with kaduk leaf baked in a mug. Kerabu Mangga is young green mango. It is shredded and mixed with a spicy dressing.

For main courses sample Ayam Sambal Petai. It’s fried chicken in tomato chili sauce with petai beans. Ayam Lemak Asam Gelugur features chicken in a gravy of turmeric and coconut milk. The signature Rusuk Panggang is beef short ribs marinated and chargrilled. Kari Udang Raja features king prawns cooked in a rich curry. Masak Lemak Udang Nanas includes prawns and pineapple in light coconut milk. Ikan Siakap Masam Manis is similar to Chinese sweet and sour sauce. Pucuk Paku Goreng is wild fern shoots stir-fried with chili and prawns.

Enjoy your meal with Pandan Nasi Lemak. It’s flavored with coconut and pandan leaves. Nasi Minyak is fluffy spiced rice. Nasi Kerabu is rice tossed with mixed herbs.

Don’t miss the desserts at Songket Restaurant. Pandan Pudding is luscious and creamy. Sago Gula Melaka has a wobbly texture. Douse it with gula Melaka and coconut milk for a heavenly taste. Durian Tiramisu is another favorite. Coconut Cream Caramel is also available.

The management believes in providing a truly Malaysian experience. Nightly cultural entertainment is showcased every week from 8:30 pm to 9:15 pm, except on Sundays.
