The SongEun ArtCube started as a nonprofit art space. It was within the SAMTAN office building. The aim of this program is to fuel the creative spirit. It helps up-and-coming artists. It also broadens public access to contemporary art.

Each year the SongEun ArtCube selects young Korean artists. It offers them an exhibition venue. It also provides a brochure for their exhibition opening.

In 2021 the SongEun Art and Cultural Foundation opened a new cultural complex. It is called SONGEUN. For over 30 years the foundation has operated nonprofit spaces. These include the SongEun Art Cube and SongEun Art Space. Also the SongEun Art Storage. These venues support artists’ creative work. They host art awards and exhibitions. They support emerging talents from home and abroad.

To foster a fresh perspective on contemporary art the foundation built the ST SONGEUN Building in 2021. It marked the opening with a special exhibition. It was titled Herzog & de Meuron Exploring the SongEun Art Space. This was in collaboration with the Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron. The 21st SONGEUN Art Award Exhibition also took place.

Yoo Sang-duck is the director. The SongEun Art Space is located in the Chung Dam District. It is known for galleries fashion houses and culture.

Since 1989 the foundation has supported young Korean artists. This was the wish of the founder Yoo Sung Yeon. It has continued through the SongEun ArtCube and the annual SongEun ArtAward since 2001.

The new building is designed for art exhibitions and events. It reflects Yoo Sang Duck’s commitment to art and culture. He is the current chairman and son of the founder.
