Established in January 2002 SMK Seksyen 1 Bandar Kinrara initially welcomed 445 students and a small team of 27 teachers. This vibrant school in Bandar Kinrara Puchong Selangor quickly grew. Its first principal Datin Noorul Aini Binti Ambak laid the foundation. She designed the school’s flag emblem and official song composed by Encik Zubir Bin Ali. The Parent-Teacher Association PIBG also began its work under Encik Mohd Azman Lim Bin Abdullah. By 2009 the student body had significantly increased to 1178. The staff expanded too. The school boasted 74 teachers guiding students towards academic excellence.
Through the years SMK Seksyen 1 Bandar Kinrara has seen many dedicated leaders. Tuan Haji Abdul Khany Bin Mohd Yusof served as principal from 2011 to 2014. Puan Irene Voon Foong Len held the position briefly before Puan Salwani Binti Mohd Zain took over. In 2022 Datin Khairun Aznida binti Mohktar became principal. She later moved to SMK Subang. Currently Puan Siti Rohani Binti Awang leads the school. She is known as the school’s modernizing principal.
SMK Seksyen 1 Bandar Kinrara is proud of its achievements. The school won an international cooking competition in London in 2006. It has hosted the Japan Internationalization Program since 2013 and the RIMUP program for Petaling Perdana in 2014. Student Matthew Ernest Paul excelled in public speaking winning numerous awards including a national runner-up position. His successes reflect the school’s commitment to developing well-rounded individuals.
