From its humble beginnings as Bukit Bintang Girls School. SK Seri Bintang Utara stands tall. This school in Kuala Lumpur has a fascinating history. Initially located on Jalan Bukit Bintang it was a premier school. In 1999 it achieved incredible success. It was recognized as the second-best school nationwide for UPSR results. The following year it was selected as a pilot school for the Bestari project. One of only 88 schools nationwide. However the existing infrastructure couldn’t handle the Bestari program’s needs. A new location became necessary.
Economic difficulties delayed the move twice. Finally in late November 2000 the dream became a reality. On January 2, 2001 the school opened its doors. It now sits on a 20-hectare plot in Taman Shamelin Perkasa. Thirty-four teachers and three administrative staff began this new chapter. The old site was demolished. It was replaced by the famous Pavilion shopping complex.
In 2003 SK Seri Bintang Utara underwent another significant change. It started admitting boys. Previously it had been an all-girls school. In 2010 the school reached a new peak. It was selected as a High-Performance School. One of only 20 schools nationwide. Six were primary schools. SK Seri Bintang Utara continued its success. In 2014 a KAFA program was established. This provided afternoon religious education. The following year it earned another prestigious recognition. It was designated a Cluster of Excellence School. SK Seri Bintang Utara’s journey reflects growth and adaptation. It’s a testament to the dedication of its staff students and community. A place where dreams take flight.
