Established on January 4th, 1988, SK Selayang Jaya first opened its doors to 849 eager students. They were guided by 25 dedicated teachers in 17 classrooms, spanning grades one through six. Prior to the establishment of SK Selayang Jaya, these students attended either Sekolah Kebangsaan Selayang Baru or Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Taman Selayang. Both schools presented a significant commute for many families residing in Taman Selayang Jaya. The community’s desire for a more conveniently located school prompted the government to approve the construction of SK Selayang Jaya. The school quickly became a cornerstone of the community, serving students from surrounding neighborhoods like Taman Selayang Utama, Taman Bidara, Taman Selayang Indah, and Taman Selayang Bahagia. Even residents of the older settlements of Kampung Selayang Pandang and Kampung Selayang Bahagia benefited from its proximity. In 2009, SK Selayang Jaya had a student population of 560, comprising 338 boys and 222 girls, under the guidance of 48 teachers. Just a year later, in 2010, the school housed three notable classes: Marikh, Zuhal, and Neptune. SK Selayang Jaya is more than just a school; it’s a testament to the community’s commitment to education. Over the years, it has evolved, acquiring various facilities and resources to support teaching, learning, and extracurricular activities. The school boasts experienced and creative educators who prioritize student well-being while fostering academic and extracurricular achievements. As of the latest records, SK Selayang Jaya nurtures a diverse student body of 570 students. This includes 58 students in special education programs and 25 preschoolers, showcasing its inclusive approach to education. Today, SK Selayang Jaya stands as a symbol of growth and progress, continuing its legacy of providing quality education in a supportive environment.
