Did you know that the Sint-Niklaasinstituut boasts a history stretching back to 1901? Right here before us stands a testament to educational dedication. This sprawling campus once housed a castle a farm and nine hectares of orchards and woods. The Broeders van Scheppers a religious order founded by Monseigneur Victor Scheppers in 1839 acquired this land. Their vision was to guide young people offering education and fostering personal growth. Initially the Sint-Niklaasinstituut began as an orphanage. Orphans learned trades like shoemaking tailoring and printing. By 1919 it transformed into a boarding school. Fifteen years later it evolved into a prestigious school. It even included both French and Dutch-speaking sections until 1962. The French section closed making way for more science and Latin courses. Until the late 1970s the Sint-Niklaasinstituut had resident students. The closure of the boarding school didn’t diminish its popularity. The Sint-Niklaasinstituut continues to thrive today. Its legacy is evident in the notable alumni. From celebrated singers like Willy Sommers to prominent footballers like Paul Van Himst. The Sint-Niklaasinstituut nurtured these individuals’ talents. This is more than just a school it’s a place where history unfolds. A place where countless young lives have been shaped. Take a moment to soak in the atmosphere. Feel the weight of history as you stand before the Sint-Niklaasinstituut. A school deeply rooted in tradition yet constantly evolving to meet the needs of its students. This institution continues to shape future generations. It remains a vital part of the Anderlecht community. The Sint-Niklaasinstituut stands as a testament to the enduring power of education.
