Established in 1983, the Shri Shiv Durga Mandir stands as a beacon of devotion in Punjabi Bagh. This isn’t just a temple. It’s a vibrant hub of worship and community. Shri Shiv Durga Mandir becomes especially alive during festivals like Maha Shivratri. Devotees gather in large numbers to celebrate. The energy is palpable. Music of Shiv bhajans fills the air. Holy rituals are performed with fervor. Shri Shiv Durga Mandir also hosts regular events. Women gather for evening kirtans every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. A monthly Sundar Kand path provides spiritual solace. Twice a month, on the second and last Wednesday, a special Guruji Kirtan takes place. Every Thursday, after the Shri Sai aarti, a bhandara, a community feast, is held. Prasad, blessed food, is distributed on every monthly Sankranti. Interestingly, the temple has preserved its history. The original murtis, or statues, are respectfully kept in the basement. Shri Shiv Durga Mandir also has a modern touch. It’s a disability-enabled temple, ensuring accessibility for all devotees. The temple expanded its spiritual reach with the inauguration of the Shri Sai Darbar on March 9, 2008. Even earlier, on November 16, 2003, a dispensary was inaugurated by Mahamandaleshwar Swami Punyanand Giri Ji. This highlights the temple’s commitment to community well-being. So, as you stand before the Shri Shiv Durga Mandir, take a moment to appreciate its rich history and vibrant present. This is more than just a place of worship. It is a testament to the enduring power of faith and community.
