Shri Sanatam Dharm Mandir is a cherished temple in Delhi. It offers a spiritual haven for many. This temple is dedicated to North Indian deities. It is a place where devotion and tradition intertwine.
The Shri Sanatam Dharm Mandir has a rich history spanning 60 years. It stands as a testament to enduring faith. Within its walls, you’ll find deities. Sapta Rishi and Bhagwan Kartikeya reside on the first floor. Navagraha Dham and Mata Sheetla are installed on the ground floor.
Eight shikhas adorn the temple complex. Each represents various sacred dhams. This architectural feature adds to the temple’s spiritual ambiance. It creates a sense of reverence.
The temple’s foundation day is its main annual festival. The community gathers to celebrate with devotion and joy. A Bhandara is organized on the last Sunday of each month. This provides prasad to all who attend.
Daily life at Shri Sanatam Dharm Mandir is filled with spiritual activities. Bhajans, Kirtans, and discourses resonate from 8:00 am every day. On Tuesdays, a special Kirtan dedicated to Bhagwan Hanuman fills the night air.
To reach Shri Sanatam Dharm Mandir, use the exit-gate number-1 from Jor Bagh metro station. The temple is near the ancient Sri Hanuman Temple of Aliganj. This makes it easily accessible for devotees.
Shri Luxmi Narain Sanatan Dharam Mandir is another significant temple. It is located in Lajpat Nagar-III, New Delhi. This temple has its own unique story. Lajpat Nagar Colony was established after the partition of India in 1947. It was to rehabilitate refugees from Punjab, Sind, and NWF.
Shri Sanatan Dharam Sabha was first established in Block E, Krishna Market, Lajpat Nagar-I. It was registered in 1950-1951. Pt. Maya Ram Pujari performed the moving idols of Deities.
The government provided land for constructing the Mandir building. It was in Lajpat Nagar-I. Later, it was exchanged for land in Lajpat Nagar-II. An adjoining plot was obtained for social and cultural purposes.
Seth Kalu Ram Ahuja led the construction efforts. He was the President of the Sabha. Devotees raised funds through religious events. They built a big Aarti hall. The Birla Mandir in New Delhi inspired its design.
The foundation stone was laid on Rakshabandhan of 1958 by His Majesty. Darshanik idols of Bhagwan Shree Laxmi Narain Ji were installed in 1961. Sh. Mool Chand Bhatia & Company gifted the idols. Pt. Maya Ram Ji performed the Puja.
Idols of Bhagawan Shree Shiv Shanker Ji and Bhagawati Mata Vaishnu Devi Ji were also installed. Sh. Gokul Chand Khurana and Smt. & Sh. Panna Lal Seth gifted them. Another Sat Sang Hall (Iqbal Devi Hall) was built. Sh. Des Raj Chhabra donated for it. Smt. Kaushalya Devi donated the platform.
Religious functions were celebrated with the blessing of Swami Gurcharan Dass Ji Maharaj. The Sabha continued its activities under the leadership of Sh. Kanwal Kishore Taneja. His Majesty graced functions in 1975 and 1977.
The Arti Hall was extended to accommodate idols of Bhagwan Shree Ram Ji Darabar and Bhagwan Shri Krishna Ji and Radha Rani Ji. A big Hall (Baraat Ghar) with a basement was constructed. Lala Goverdhan Lal Trehan partly funded it.
A Charitable Dispensary was established under the name of Shree Sanatan Dharam Sabha(Regd). It was largely funded by Lala Goverdhan Lal Trehan. Three rooms were built for Pt. Maya Ram Pujari’s residence. Panna Devi Bajoria Charitable trust donated for this. A Shivalya with a gold-coated Kalash was built. Sh. Narinder Anand gifted the idols of Lord Shiva Parivar.
A high Shikhar was erected on the main gate. It was decorated with a marble stone of Ganesha Ji. Sh. R.R. Chadha partly funded it. He also set up a marriage bureau.
