Shobha Bazar’s story begins long ago with wealthy traders settling in Sutanuti. They cleared the jungles establishing the area. Shyambazar a neighbouring area got its name from the Basaks’ family deity Shyam Roy. One of the wealthiest residents Shobharam Basak played a significant role in the area’s development.
