Maharaja Nabakrishna Deb a prominent figure built his magnificent Rajbari in Shobha Bazar. Some say he acquired it from Shobharam Basak significantly expanding it. His wealth was immense. After Siraj ud-Daulah’s death Nabakrishna Deb along with others acquired a fortune. He even constructed roads. Parts of these roads now bear his name and form streets within Shobha Bazar. Many streets in Shobha Bazar are named after members of the Deb family a testament to their influence.
