Pandurang noticed one of his cows, Kapila, consistently returning without giving milk. Babul, when questioned, revealed a peculiar sight. Each day, Kapila would wander to a particular spot on the hill and pour her milk onto the ground, as if in offering. Intrigued, Pandurang followed Babul and witnessed the strange ritual himself. Driven by curiosity, he dug at the spot where Kapila offered her milk. And there, beneath the earth, lay a shivling, a symbol of Lord Shiva, seemingly born from the earth itself, a swayambhu. Overwhelmed with reverence, Pandurang built the first Shiv Mandir on that very spot, enshrining the sacred stone. But whispers of an older tale linger, a tale of King Bhimdev of the Solanki dynasty, who centuries before had also built a temple to Lord Shiva here. This earlier shrine, ravaged by time, had crumbled into ruins, its story fading into the mists of history until the shivling was rediscovered. So, as you stand here, at the Shiv Mandir, remember these interwoven tales. Remember the cowherd Babul and the goldsmith Pandurang, their lives forever touched by the divine presence of Lord Shiva.
