Can you imagine a single building housing a dozen ministries? Here at Shastri Bhawan, that’s precisely the case. Shastri Bhawan stands as a testament to India’s administrative heart. It’s named after Lal Bahadur Shastri, India’s second Prime Minister. This isn’t just a building, it’s a hub of activity. Shastri Bhawan is a vital organ of the Indian government. Within its walls, crucial decisions impacting the nation are made daily. The ministries housed here cover a vast spectrum of responsibilities. These include Coal, Corporate Affairs, Education, Information and Broadcasting, and Law and Justice. Also, the Ministries of Mines, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Social Justice and Empowerment, Tribal Affairs, Women and Child Development, and Youth Affairs and Sports operate from this location. Shastri Bhawan’s location is significant too. It stands on the north side of Kartavya Path. Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road runs along its northern edge, and Krishi Bhawan lies to the west. A tragic incident occurred here in 2024 when an IT Ministry scientist jumped from the seventh floor. This event underscores the immense pressure and responsibility shouldered by those working within these walls. A fire also broke out on the seventh floor in 2014, further highlighting the building’s history. Shastri Bhawan is more than just an office building.
