The Shah Abul Khair Dargah is tucked away within the bustling heart of Old Delhi. It holds the memory of a remarkable lineage of Sufi teachers and leaders. This Dargah isn’t just a place of worship. It is a testament to the enduring power of spiritual teachings passed down through a family. Shah Abul Khair, whose full name was Shah Muhiuddin Abdiuallah, rests here. Shah Abul Khair dedicated his life to spreading the wisdom and practices of Sufism. He passed away in 1922. His legacy lives on within these walls. Shah Abul Khair’s Dargah is part of the Khanqah-e-Mazhariya. This place houses the final resting places of four prominent Sufi figures. His father, Hazrat Shah Abu Saeed, rests beside him. Shah Abu Saeed, a scholar in his own right, studied under many learned teachers. This included the sons of the renowned scholar Hazrat Shah Waliullah. Shah Mohammad Ghulam Ali, Shah Abul Khair’s grandfather, was a popular disciple of Mirza Mazhar Jan-e-Janan. Shah Ghulam Ali taught at Delhi’s Jama Masjid and became known for his spiritual insights. He passed away in 1824. He also had a remarkable escape from a false accusation of witchcraft in Gujarat. The ruler, after a divine dream, recognized Shah Ghulam Ali as a Sufi and released him.
