David earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1963. He then married his college sweetheart, Donna Thompson. He received a Master’s degree in Theology in 1967. He later obtained a Doctor of Divinity degree.

In 1969, David and Donna started a church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Only seven families attended. He served as the pastor at Blackhawk Baptist Church for twelve years. During that time, the church grew to 1300 members.

In 1981, the Jeremiahs moved to California. David became the senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church. It is now Shadow Mountain Community Church. It is one of the biggest churches in San Diego County. It has eight satellite locations. These locations serve Hispanic and Arabic congregations.

David Jeremiah continued his broadcast ministry in California. In 1982, he launched Turning Point for God. It started as a local television program. It soon included Turning Point Radio. It has become an internationally recognized ministry.

Shadow Mountain Community Church has a global attendance of over 20000 weekly. The headquarters is in the greater San Diego area. It is near La Mesa, Santee, and other communities. Shadow Mountain Community Church has eleven campuses.

David and Donna Jeremiah are the lead pastors. David is also an author and speaker. He hosts Turning Point live events. Donna is the Executive Vice President of Turning Point Ministries.
