“Sandy Land” is what the locals call it. This is because of the soft silver sands along its shore. I am talking about the Shachang Reservoir.
Shachang Reservoir is a perfect place for fishing. It is located in the east of Shachang Village. It is downstream from the Hongmenchuan River in Miyun County. The reservoir is 20 kilometers from Miyun County.

Jinding Lake is another name for Shachang Reservoir. It is surrounded by mountains. The deepest part of the reservoir reaches 35 meters. The dam stands at 47 meters high.
The lake is wide and clean. The water rises gently with the wind. Boating on the lake provides panoramic views. The surrounding scenery is calm and natural.
The fine sand along the lake bank makes it popular. The local people call this artificial lake Shachang Reservoir. The natural bathing beach has clear water and fine sand. Swimming and fishing are common activities here. The surrounding mountains are not high. Their gentle slopes have dense vegetation. Many wild birds live here.
To get to Shachang Reservoir drive over Miyun County. Take the G101 national highway for 21 km. Turn right before reaching Xiawanzi. Go straight to Dayu. You will see the reservoir soon after.
