Seoul Oksu Elementary School stands as a beacon of learning. It is located in the heart of Seoul. The school’s story is rich with history and innovation.
Established in 1966, Seoul Oksu Elementary School has a long and proud history. The school officially opened its doors on December 2 of that year. However, the first principal, Kim Kyung-ha, took office a bit earlier. It was February 1, 1967. The first graduation ceremony was held in 1970. 626 students celebrated this milestone.
Over the years, Seoul Oksu Elementary School has seen many changes. In 1989, a computer lab was installed. This marked the beginning of the school’s journey into the digital age. A dining hall was completed in 1994, offering students a better place to eat. In 2000, the school-wide internet network was built.
The school continued to evolve in the 21st century. In 2002, the main building’s dining area was remodeled. Broadcasting facilities were also improved. By 2009, the school updated its emblem. It also created new character mascots named Barami and Arami.
Seoul Oksu Elementary School embraced modern technology. One classroom was transformed into a VR Sports Room in June. The VR Sports Room uses VR technology and sensors. Students can enjoy a variety of fun activities. They can also track their performance. The school tracks each student’s exercise level. It uses a NFC Fitness Management System. The system tracks their activity as they move around the school.
ETRI helped create the VR Sports Room. ETRI is a Korean ICT institute. It is dedicated to advancing technologies. They introduce positive changes to people’s everyday lives.
The school’s commitment to innovation has been recognized. Seoul Oksu Elementary School signed a business agreement. It was with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. Together, they will develop and expand the use of the VR platform in schools.
Seoul Oksu Elementary School continues to adapt. As of 2023, there are 539 students. The faculty consists of 36 staff members. The school’s flower is the rose. The school tree is the Chinese parasol tree.
Seoul Oksu Elementary School has deep roots. Yet, the school always looks to the future. It prepares students for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
