Seoul Jangsin University has a rich history. It began in 1954 as a night seminary. It was called “Chong Hoe Yagan Sin Hak Kyo”. Rev. Kim, Yun-Chan was the first chief director.
In 1963, the seminary changed its name. It became “Seoul Jangrohoe Sinhakkyo”. Rev. Gang, Sin-Myung became principal. The university has moved campuses several times. It started at Dong Sung Church. Then it moved to Han Sung Church. Later, it moved to Sinseol-dong. Finally, in 1985, it arrived here in Gwangju.
In 1984, the Ministry of Education approved a four-year college. In 1997, it gained university status. The following year, it became Seoul Jangsin University.
The university has several departments. These include theology, social welfare, and church music. The current president is Rev. An, Joo-Hoon. Many influential figures have led Seoul Jangsin University.
