Seoul Daedong Elementary School

In 2009, a young boy named Paik Seung-ho dominated the Elementary Weekend League. He scored an astounding 30 goals in just 18 games for Seoul Daedong Elementary School. This incredible feat earned him the prestigious 22nd Cha Bum-kun Football Grand Prize, marking him as a rising star. Little did anyone know, this was just the beginning of his remarkable journey. Seoul Daedong Elementary School played a pivotal role in Paik’s early development. It provided him with the platform to showcase his exceptional talent. Later that year, his skills caught the attention of scouts during the 1st Korea-Catalonia Youth Cup in Barcelona. He received a contract offer from Barcelona’s youth team, a testament to his talent nurtured at Seoul Daedong Elementary School. While he had originally planned to join Suwon Samsung Bluewings’ youth team, his performance in Barcelona opened a new door. Samsung Bluewings, recognizing his potential, decided to support his move to Spain. This decision marked a significant turning point in Paik’s career, all stemming from his time at Seoul Daedong Elementary School. Today, Seoul Daedong Elementary School continues to serve its community. It’s known for its inclusive environment, welcoming students from diverse backgrounds. This inclusive spirit was evident in 2017, when the school translated its entrance ceremony greetings into Chinese to accommodate the growing number of multiethnic students.
