Born on January 3rd in Mushongahande Village Guruve Sekuru Tute Chigamba’s life was far from ordinary. Sekuru Sagonda isn’t just a name it’s a legacy. This place holds a piece of that legacy.

He experienced the hardships of migrant labor in Gadzema and Madzongwe.

He worked for Albert Amato a Jewish refugee from Rhodes Island. His experiences shaped his music and his understanding of Zimbabwean life. He composed his first mbira song Mutenda Mambo in his father’s honor.

His work extended beyond music. He played a key role in post-war reconciliation ceremonies. He collaborated with ethnomusicologist Lucy Duran and BBC producer Tessa Watts.
