From a temporary home at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seksyen 6 Kota Damansara to its own sprawling campus, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seksyen 10 Kota Damansara has a story to tell. Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seksyen 10 Kota Damansara officially opened its doors on December 1st, 2000, under the leadership of its first principal, En. Ghumiat bin Kamdi. Initially operating from borrowed classrooms in the afternoons at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seksyen 6, the school began with a small community of 20 teachers and 437 students spread across eight Form 1 classes and three transition classes. Imagine the bustling hallways shared between the two schools during those early days. In January 2002, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seksyen 10 Kota Damansara moved to its permanent location in Section 10, Kota Damansara. The school building, constructed by the Malaysian Bumiputera Contractors Consortium, boasts a unique ‘design and build’ concept. By this time, the student body had grown to 802, with a diverse mix of 56% Malay, 24% Chinese, and 20% Indian students. The teaching staff increased to 45, supporting three transition classes, eleven Form 1 classes, and nine Form 2 classes. Fast forward to 2005, and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seksyen 10 Kota Damansara had expanded significantly, with 98 teachers, 1827 students, and nine support staff. The school began offering Form 5 and introduced a two-session system to accommodate the growing student population. Mornings were dedicated to transition classes, Forms 3, 4, and 5, while afternoons were reserved for Forms 1 and 2. The school also established two Religious Stream Classes for Form 1. The year 2006 marked another milestone with the introduction of Lower 6. One science stream class and two humanities classes were added, bringing the total number of classes to 61. The student population reached 1900, with 108 teachers and 10 support staff. The growth continued in 2007 with the opening of Upper 6, adding one science and three humanities classes. A science and three humanities classes were also added to Lower 6, along with a Special Program Class (KRK) for Form 1. This brought the total number of classes to 69, with 2125 students, 126 teachers, and 10 support staff. By 2010, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seksyen 10 Kota Damansara boasted 2,253 students, 85 classes, and a teaching staff of 168, supported by 14 administrative staff.
