Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seafield. A name whispered with pride by its students. It’s more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a living testament to the community it serves. Our journey begins in December 1993. Picture the scene. The newly established Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seafield, a dream of the Malaysian Ministry of Education, had no building of its own. For eight months, it shared space with the SS19 Primary School, holding classes in the afternoons. Imagine those early days, a blend of excitement and improvisation. The very name, “Seafield,” echoes the area’s history. Before the houses and bustling streets, this was the Seafield Estate, a sprawling palm oil plantation. The school’s creation was a necessity, a promise by developer Sime UEP to provide education alongside housing. Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seafield began with a small but dedicated team. Twenty academic staff and one non-academic staff member nurtured the first 400 students. There were two transition classes, eight Form 1 classes, and two Form 2 classes. In that first month, a school song and logo were created, fostering a sense of belonging and pride. The Parent-Teacher Association was also established, building a bridge between home and school. A pivotal moment arrived on August 18, 1994. Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seafield moved into its own building on Jalan. A new chapter began. Then, on September 1st, teachers and students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Subang Utama joined the Seafield family. The school continued to grow. In 1998, it was upgraded to a Grade A school. Murals brightened the walls. Gardens bloomed. Curricular and co-curricular activities flourished. Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seafield pursued excellence in academics, safety, cleanliness, and IT. By 2009, the school had grown to over 2,200 students and 126 teachers. One particular point of pride is the school choir. Formed in 1997, it’s open to all students from Form 1 to Form 5. From 2004 onwards, the choir achieved remarkable success. They won the District Petaling Perdana inter-school choir competition for three consecutive years, from 2012 to 2014. In 2014, their conductor, Gayatri Kandiah, was awarded Best Conductor. That same year, they won the national “Shah Alam Shines Choir” competition. Their voices have carried them beyond Malaysia’s borders. They performed in Heidelberg and Berlin in 2012, Phuket and Bangkok in 2013, Brisbane in 2014, and at the prestigious Malaysia International Choral Festival in Putrajaya. Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seafield continues to nurture future leaders, fostering not only academic excellence but also creativity, teamwork, and community engagement.
