“Ilmu Amal Taqwa.” That’s the motto greeting students at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Damai Perdana. It’s a guiding principle for this secondary school. The school is located on Jalan Damai Perdana 2 in Cheras. It is in the Hulu Langat area of Selangor.

Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Damai Perdana began operating on January 2, 2003. Initially, classes were held at Sekolah Kebangsaan Alam Damai. The current school buildings were constructed starting March 27, 2001. They opened on May 11, 2003. The school’s name reflects its location in Bandar Damai Perdana.

The Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Damai Perdana comprises seven blocks. These blocks are named Damai Abadi, Damai Budi, Damai Cekal, Damai Perdana, Damai Ehsan, Damai Fitrah and Damai Gigih. These blocks house administrative offices, classrooms, science labs, and computer labs. There are also workshops and special rooms. A canteen and a surau are also on site.

In 2009, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Damai Perdana had 2431 students. There were 1239 male students and 1192 female students. The school had 144 teachers. As of October 2024, the school has 1591 students and 109 teachers.

The first students came from Sekolah Kebangsaan Desa Baiduri. There were 267 students. These students sat for the Penilaian Menengah Rendah exam in 2005. They took the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia exam in 2007.

Puan Hajah Maimun binti Ahmad was the first principal. She was supported by En Manian a/l Ramasamy, Pn. Umi Kalthom binti Lope Salleh and En. Md Yusop bin Hamid. Sixteen teachers were also part of the original team.

Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Damai Perdana sits on a 60-degree angled hill. It once held a Malaysia record. It was ranked as the most hilly school. The student body is diverse. Approximately 63% are Malay, 26% are Chinese and 11% are Indian.

The school’s vision is “Pendidikan Berkualiti Insan Terdidik Negara Sejahtera.” This translates to Quality Education, Educated People, Prosperous Nation. Its mission is “Sekolah Unggul Penjana Generasi Terbilang” meaning Excellent School, Generator of Outstanding Generations.

The school actively promotes citizenship and leadership. It also values community involvement. Students participate in community service. This fosters responsibility and social awareness. Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Damai Perdana uses technology to enhance learning. It invests in digital learning tools.
