Picture the vibrant scene before you. Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Indah stands proudly. It’s not just a school it’s a microcosm of Malaysian life.
This isn’t just any school. Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Indah located in Taman Overseas Union Kuala Lumpur has a rich history. It opened its doors in 2001. Only 23 students attended that first year. By the end of the year the number swelled to 56. This initial growth reflects the burgeoning community around it.
The school’s name itself is evocative. Seri Indah means beautiful or graceful. It’s a fitting name for a school near Bukit Indah a beautiful hill in the area. The school’s motto “Berakhlak Berilmu Berjaya” meaning virtuous knowledgeable and successful was adopted in 2001. It guides the school’s mission.
In its early years Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Indah had a small staff. Eight teachers a headmaster and three senior assistant teachers formed the core faculty. Two support staff members completed the team. The school initially offered only six classes one for each year level from one to six.
The school grew rapidly. By 2002 enrollment reached 106 students. This increased to 124 in 2003 and 128 in 2004. A special education class for students with learning disabilities opened in 2004. Two students were enrolled with one coordinating teacher and one special education teacher. In 2005 a special education class from SK Taman Desa was transferred to Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Indah. This class began operating on January 17 2005.
The first headmistress was Puan Rokiah Bt Zakaria. Puan Rahemah Bt Shafiee was the senior assistant teacher for administration and curriculum. Puan Zainab Bt Muhamad was responsible for student affairs. En Abdul Rashid Bin Idris oversaw co-curricular activities.
Today Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Indah continues to thrive. It stands as a testament to the growth of Kuala Lumpur and the dedication of its teachers and students. It’s more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a place where dreams are nurtured and futures are shaped. A place where the spirit of Seri Indah truly shines.
