Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Ladang Bukit Jalil

From a humble beginning in a temporary structure near a temple, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Ladang Bukit Jalil has blossomed into a vital part of the Kuala Lumpur community. Did you know that the school’s journey began way back in 1924? It wasn’t officially registered until 1947. For the first 26 years, a single dedicated teacher nurtured the minds of the students. Imagine, just one teacher for the entire school. By 1950, the student population had reached 60 eager learners, growing to 92 by 1955. That same year, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Ladang Bukit Jalil moved to its current location. The original structure housed just two classrooms, a modest start for a school with such a big heart. In 1965, two more classrooms and restrooms were added, a significant expansion for the growing school. This new wing was officially opened on May 2, 1969, by the Honorable Lee Siok Yew AMN PJK, the Deputy Minister of Education. Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Ladang Bukit Jalil continued to thrive. A canteen was built in 1990, and a fence was erected around the school grounds, providing a sense of security and community. A new building with six classrooms was added in 1994, further enhancing the school’s capacity to serve the community. In 2009, the school had 92 students and 10 teachers. Another two-story building was constructed in 2010, marking a new chapter in the school’s history. Today, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Ladang Bukit Jalil continues its mission of providing quality education, now with 136 students, including preschoolers. This school’s growth, from a simple structure with one teacher to a vibrant institution with multiple buildings and a bustling student body, is a testament to its importance to the community.
