Named after Sejong the Great this is Sejong Science High School. He was the king who created the Korean alphabet Hangul. Sejong Science High School stands as a beacon of scientific and technological education in Seoul. It is located in Guro-gu. Sejong Science High School was established in 2008. Its mission is clear to cultivate Korea’s brightest young minds.
Sejong Science High School is one of three premier science high schools in Seoul. The others are Hansung Science High School and Seoul Science High School. Sejong Science High School aims to nurture intellectual potential in science and technology. It serves students aged 15 to 18.
Since 2008 Sejong Science High School has hosted the Friendly Math Festival every July. This festival welcomes local residents. Students and the public can participate. It aims to engage those uninterested in science and technology through fun activities. There are exhibitions and workshops. Live demonstrations and user created content are also featured. Despite its name the festival includes science and technology events. Booths offer entertainment on topics like game theory and geometry.
Sejong Science High School also runs the Scientific Development Class. It also organizes the Inventor Class. This is an educational project for middle school students in Seoul. Today Sejong Science High School continues to thrive. Young-Sam Kim is the principal since 2023. The school has 113 faculty members. It has 431 students.
