Did Baden-Powell ever imagine his Scouting movement would have a dedicated Heritage Centre in sunny Queensland? Here at the Scout Heritage Centre, nestled within the Wheelhouse building at Baden-Powell Park in Samford, we uncover a treasure trove of Scouting history. Baden-Powell himself visited Queensland three times. His first visit was in 1912. He arrived at Short Street Wharf and was greeted by a thousand cheering Scouts at Toowong’s Old Rifle Range. During his 1931 visit with Lady Baden-Powell, he left his footprint in concrete at Eprapah Campsite. This footprint is now a prized exhibit at the Scout Heritage Centre. His final visit was brief, a stop on the way to the first Australian Jamboree in 1934. The Scout Heritage Centre isn’t just a museum, it’s a living testament to the spirit of Scouting.
