Did the walls of Schule Brehmweg ever imagine they’d house so much youthful energy? Right here at Schule Brehmweg, where Eimsbüttel meets Stellingen, stands a vibrant hub of learning and growth. Schule Brehmweg is a three-stream elementary school. It caters to children from first to fourth grade and also includes two preschool classes. This isn’t just any school. Over 90% of the 270 students participate in afternoon activities. Schule Brehmweg emphasizes a healthy future. Daily exercise, eco-conscious behavior, and strong media literacy are key pillars of their educational philosophy. They even have their own Instagram, Grundschule_Brehmweg, to keep everyone updated. Imagine students buzzing with excitement during their “Talentschuppen” before winter break. Singing, dancing, reciting poems, even showcasing original songs. This dedication to holistic development extends beyond the classroom. Schule Brehmweg actively reduces its carbon footprint, earning it the title of “Klimaschule”. They incorporate climate-focused lessons, participate in the Fifty-Fifty program, and even have student “detectives” monitoring waste, electricity, and heating. Their dedication to sustainability is evident in everything from daily “Klimafrühstück” (climate breakfasts) to their use of recycled paper. Movement is another cornerstone of the Schule Brehmweg experience. As a “Bewegte Schule” (active school), they offer an extra sports lesson weekly, utilize “Bewegungskisten” (movement boxes), and enjoy regular ice skating from October to March. Special sports days and events like Trixitt and Ballfest add to the vibrant atmosphere. Schule Brehmweg fosters a learning environment where each child’s individual growth is nurtured within a supportive community. From individualized learning plans to inclusive practices and democratic processes like the Kinderkonferenz (children’s conference), this school truly embraces the future of education.
