Right here at Schule Bramfelder Dorfplatz, “Technische Bildung” (Technical Education) is a core part of their science and technology program. Schule Bramfelder Dorfplatz isn’t just a modern school. It holds a rich history. Records show a schoolmaster in Bramfeld village as early as 1692 and 1708. The village adopted a school cottage as a community school in 1789. This date is considered the school’s founding year. A new building at Bramfelder Dorfplatz 1 was finished in 1888. The old schoolhouse was then demolished. The first school building at the current address, Bramfelder Dorfplatz 5, was built in 1903. It underwent renovations in 1909 and 1913. After the devastating bombing of Hamburg in 1943, the student population exploded. Schule Bramfelder Dorfplatz had 1361 students crammed into 26 classes, with only ten classrooms available. Expansions began in 1953. A second phase and a gymnasium were completed in 1956. In 1982, additional pavilions were added. The gymnasium underwent renovations in 2012. Sadly, it was destroyed by arson shortly after. A two-story building replaced it in 2014-2015, housing a double gymnasium and eleven classrooms. Schule Bramfelder Dorfplatz has seen many changes. It was once a Volksschule, then a combined elementary, middle, and high school. With the Hamburg school reform, it merged with Haupt- und Realschule Hegholt to become Stadtteilschule Bramfeld. Grades 7-13 are taught at the Bramfelder Dorfplatz location. Grades 5-6 and an international preparatory class are at the Hegholt location. Today, Schule Bramfelder Dorfplatz stands as a vibrant learning center. It embraces both its historical roots and modern advancements.
