Have you ever imagined a life lived within the walls of a centuries-old manor? Welcome to Schoppershof a place where history whispers through the stones. This isn’t just any building. This is Schoppershof a former estate just outside Nuremberg’s bustling city center. Its story begins long ago. It started as a simple tower in 1370. Sadly it was destroyed in the First Markgrafenkrieg of 1449. But Schoppershof rose again. It was rebuilt only to be destroyed again in 1552 during the Second Markgrafenkrieg.

Undeterred Schoppershof was reborn once more. Georg Gösswein constructed it as a magnificent “Weiherhaus” in 1575. The noble family Peller inherited Schoppershof in 1624. They expanded the estate significantly. They even formed a successful trading company based here at Schoppershof. For generations the Pellers ruled Schoppershof. In 1818 they even received a noble title. Sadly the male line ended in 1870 during the Franco-Prussian War.

The Tucher von Simmelsdorf family acquired Schoppershof in 1875. They are its stewards to this day. Schoppershof has been more than a stately home. Towards the end of the 18th century it housed a unique collection of structures. This included a manor house a couple of farmsteads and even a brewery and a brickyard all nestled together. Schoppershof’s location played a part in its history. It is situated along the Bayreuther Straße. You can still access it via the U-Bahn line U2. The Schoppershof and Nordostbahnhof stations are nearby.

Today the manor house of Schoppershof serves as the headquarters for two significant foundations. The Dr Lorenz Tucher Foundation and the Tucher Cultural Foundation both call Schoppershof home. They utilize the charming guest rooms for visiting family members a wonderful blend of history and modern use. Even the surrounding neighborhood reflects Schoppershof’s impact. The residential area radiating from Leipziger Platz is still largely intact. It is a testament to the architectural style of the 1920s. The Allerheiligen Church completed in 1956 adds another layer to the area’s rich tapestry.

Schoppershof is more than just a place. It is a living testament to centuries of history. It represents the enduring strength of a community and its buildings. A reminder of how even after destruction and change. Schoppershof stands resilient. It stands as a symbol of a rich past and a vibrant future. Now you can see for yourself how it seamlessly blends past and present. As you leave Schoppershof remember the stories woven into its very foundations. They are waiting for you to rediscover them.
