Originally named Northwest Wayne County Community College, Schoolcraft College adopted its current name to avoid confusion. The name honors Henry Schoolcraft, an American geologist. Schoolcraft College has a rich history of providing accessible education.

Today, Schoolcraft College welcomes students from over 42 countries. Schoolcraft College offers over 130 academic majors and programs. These programs lead to skills certificates, associate degrees, and even a Bachelor of Science degree in Culinary and Dietary Operations Management.

For international students, Schoolcraft College offers English as a Second Language courses. The Schoolcraft International Center ensures a positive experience for international students. The Schoolcraft Learning Support Services provides tutoring.

Outside of the classroom, Schoolcraft College offers many student activities, clubs, and athletics. Schoolcraft College has a wide range of extracurriculars.

Schoolcraft College’s main campus is located on Haggerty Road in Livonia. The college also operates the Public Safety Training Complex. Here, students learn skills for policing and firefighting. The Manufacturing and Engineering Center houses programs such as advanced manufacturing and welding.

Schoolcraft College is known for its culinary arts program. The culinary department is headed by four certified master chefs. This is the highest CMC/Student ratio of any culinary school in the country. The culinary department is housed in the Vistatech Center. The American Harvest restaurant is located here.

Schoolcraft College has a student-run campus newspaper called the Schoolcraft Connection.

The Schoolcraft College athletic program is part of the National Junior College Athletic Association. The athletic teams are called the Ocelots.

Schoolcraft College’s Business Development Center hosts several programs for regional businesses. The Schoolcraft College Procurement Technical Assistance Center provides free government contracting assistance.
