Has the name “Roy Black” ever crossed your path? Here, right in front of Schloss Strassberg, a tale unfolds that intertwines with the iconic German Schlager star. Schloss Strassberg, a stately castle overlooking the picturesque village, holds more than just stones and mortar. It cradles within its history the life story of Roy Black, born Gerhard Höllerich in 1943. Though he later moved to Augsburg-Göggingen, his connection to this serene village, where he spent his youth, never truly faded. He skyrocketed to fame in 1965 with his hit “Du bist nicht allein,” his powerful voice captivating the nation. “Ganz in Weiß,” his 1968 chart-topper, even earned him the coveted golden record. But Roy Black was more than just a singer. He graced the screen, becoming a beloved film and television star, notably in the series “Schloss am Wörthersee.” Tragedy struck in 1991 when the beloved star died unexpectedly at the age of 48. He found his final resting place not under the bright lights of fame, but back here, in the tranquil Strassberg cemetery, in the heart of the village that knew him as Gerhard. To this day, fans flock to his grave, adorning it with tokens of remembrance, a testament to the enduring legacy of the boy from Strassberg who became the legendary Roy Black.
