In 1965 a new school opened its doors. This was the beginning of the Schliemann Grundschule in Berlin Rudow. It wasn’t just any school. It held a special place in the hearts of the community.

The Schliemann Grundschule was founded as a branch of the Matthias-Claudius-Schule. It quickly became its own entity. The school’s name honored Heinrich Schliemann. He was a famous archaeologist. His discoveries of Troy captivated the world.

The Schliemann Grundschule wasn’t just about academics. It fostered a sense of community. Parents and teachers worked together. They even built a playground. This was officially opened in 1977. It was a testament to their shared dedication.

The school continued to grow. An extension was added in 1974. It included a language lab and workshops. The school thrived. It celebrated its 15th anniversary with a summer festival. The 20th and 25th anniversaries were marked by impressive celebrations. The 25th featured a magnificent Trojan horse.

In the 1990s a new era began. A new pavilion was added and a supporting association was established. Later another supporting group “Friends of the Schliemann School” was founded. A new schoolyard was built and opened in 1998. The Schliemann Grundschule’s history shows its strong commitment to education. It was reflected in its expansion and community spirit.

In 2005 a new building was created. “Schliemanns Schatz” housed a childcare center. This further emphasized the school’s dedication to the children. The school continued to mark milestones with festive events. These highlighted its continued success.

The Schliemann Grundschule’s story goes beyond textbooks and classrooms. It’s a story of community resilience. It’s a story of growth and achievement.
