It’s hard to believe that this sleek and modern building was once a real-world studio environment. The SCAD Digital Media Center is a marvel of modern architecture and a testament to the innovative spirit of Savannah College of Art and Design. This expansive 60,000-square-foot facility opened its doors in the fall of 2009 and has helped to transform Atlanta’s cultural landscape. The Center houses academic majors within the School of Digital Media and the School of Entertainment Arts. SCAD reached out to major television networks like TBS, Cartoon Network, and CNN, all located in downtown Atlanta, asking them what an ideal television studio would offer. Taking inspiration from their suggestions, the college went out and bought all the necessary equipment and technology to create a state-of-the-art facility for students to work and train. The Center boasts an impressive green screen, interview set, and a wide array of advanced equipment, all designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of digital media. This building is not just a place for learning; it’s also a hub for experimental, immersive, and interactive projects. Students here create cutting-edge pieces using the latest technologies, showcasing their creativity and talent. And while the building itself is impressive, the true beauty lies within its walls. The interior is filled with beautiful student and faculty artwork. Among these masterpieces, notable are the paintings of Wyatt Graff, an Illustration alumni and current SCAD Atlanta golf coach. These colorful works adorn three rows of sliding glass panels, which can be rearranged to create unique compositions. The SCAD Digital Media Center is not just a building; it’s a dynamic space where creativity and technology come alive.
