Didn’t Mae Chee Sansanee Sthirasuta leave behind a legacy of peace? Sathira Dhammasathan is a serene learning community in bustling Bangkok. It stands as a testament to her vision.

Sathira Dhammasathan was founded in 1987. It offers diverse programs for people of all ages. These programs welcome all genders and walks of life.

Imagine a nine-acre sanctuary. Trees abound and lotus ponds reflect the sky. Winding paths invite quiet contemplation. Meditative nooks offer respite from the city’s noise. Sathira Dhammasathan is a drop of serenity amid Bangkok’s chaos.

Mae Chee Sansanee Sthirasuta was a Buddhist nun. She founded this center. She believed Dhamma is sacred. It can be applied to daily life. She also believed that every human being can live a life free from suffering. Differences should be respected and accepted here.

For her first seven years as a nun Mae Chee Sansanee studied meditation. She practiced with her teacher. This became the foundation for her work.

She transformed barren land into Sathira Dhammasathan. Her intention was to create a learning community. People could learn to let go of ignorance here. They could also find happiness in serving the world.

Initially meditation and Dhamma discourses were the main activities at Sathira Dhammasathan. Mae Chee noticed the suffering of those attending. This led her to start other projects. These touched the lives of both the suffering and those who cause it. Her work extended to all levels of society. It included the rich, the poor and even prisoners.

Mae Chee Sansanee used Dhamma to bring peace. She fostered harmony and respect. She brought an open heart without bias to high-power meetings.

Her teachings and humanitarian efforts gained attention. The Thai Government appointed her to influential positions.

Organizations in other countries recognized her compassion. Mae Chee Sansanee attended summits worldwide. She represented Buddhist ordained women. She shared peace and unconditional love.

For over ten years she was Co-Chair for the Global Peace Initiative of Women. This organization promotes inter-faith dialogue. It strives for inner and outer peace in troubled regions. She supported youth around the world. She worked with the Global Peace Initiative of Women and the UNDP.

Mae Chee Sansanee passed away in December 2021 at 68 years old. Her legacy lives on through Sathira Dhammasathan. It is a place where peace and harmony flourish. It is a place that continues to inspire.
