Established in 1829, Sandyford Parish emerged from Cabinteely. Its story began with Fr. Patrick Smyth. He became Parish Priest for Sandyford and Glencullen Churches.
Sandyford Parish includes St. Mary’s in Sandyford. Also part of it are chapels in Glencullen and Kilternan. The church of Our Lady of the Wayside in Kilternan was blessed in 1929.

Sandyford Parish has a rich history beyond its churches. Sandyford House stands as a testament to the past. Since the 1690s, it has been an inn and coach house. For two centuries, travelers journeying to Enniskerry stopped here. From 1803, the Chatham Street mail coach deposited mail at the inn. It served as the local post office.
Sandyford grew into a modern hub. The Sandyford Business District now thrives. It houses over 700 companies. These companies employ over 20,000 people. Officially opened in 1977, it was initially the “Sandyford Industrial Estate”.
The Luas Green Line made Sandyford more accessible. Stops like Kilmacud and Central Park serve the area. Sandyford once was the Green Line terminus.
