Tilden High School wasn’t just about academics. It boasted a swimming pool a rifle range and a massive auditorium. The auditorium featured a spectacular mural. It depicted major influences in civilization. The mural took years to complete. It was a Works Progress Administration project.
The school played a vital role during World War II. Students raised thousands of dollars for war bonds. Girls learned to cook with limited ingredients. They prepared for the war effort through home economics classes. The school also held a mass blood drive.
