In 1927, a seed of knowledge was planted in Samarkand. This seed, Samarqand Davlat Universiteti, initially the Uzbek Pedagogical Institute, has grown into a mighty tree of learning. It started with just three departments: physics-mathematics, natural-geography, and social-economic.
