Could the walls of this building talk? I bet they’d have some stories to tell. This, my friends, is the Salón de los Gobernadores Constitucionales. It offers a glimpse into Córdoba’s vibrant political past. This building, nestled within Parque de las Tejas, was the heart of Córdoba’s government for over five decades. It housed 31 provincial governors. The main chamber you see before you witnessed over half a century of political life. It stands as a unique testament to Córdoba’s institutional history, open for all to explore. The Salón de los Gobernadores aims to preserve the memory of Córdoba’s constitutional leaders. It allows visitors to discover their works and legacies throughout history. Inside, you’ll find historic artifacts from the former governor’s office. These include the original desk and chair, typewriters, flags from different eras, and the provincial cabinet’s meeting table. Portraits of Córdoba’s 57 constitutional governors adorn the walls. Among them, you’ll find Brigadier General Juan Bautista Bustos, the first governor and hero of Independence. There’s also Mariano Fragueiro, organizer of the Caja de Depósitos, a precursor to the Banco de Córdoba. You’ll also see Ramón José Cárcano, politician, historian, and author of numerous books. Amadeo Sabattini, known for his contributions to education, water management, and road infrastructure, is also featured. And let’s not forget Brigadier Mayor Juan Ignacio San Martín, a driving force behind the aeronautical and automotive industries. Even Arturo Orlando Zanichelli, who moved the government headquarters to this very Casa de las Tejas, is represented here. The Salón de los Gobernadores also hosts temporary exhibitions, adding another layer of intrigue to your visit. It’s a journey through time, a testament to the individuals who shaped Córdoba’s destiny.
