The year is 1982. Bishop Maurice ‘Ben’ Benitez of the Diocese of Texas proposed a bold vision. Two Episcopal congregations in the Houston area, All Saints Episcopal Church in Galena Park and St. Simon and St. Jude Episcopal Church of North Shore, would merge into one vibrant community. This union, initially named St. Simon and All Saints, marked the beginning of what we know today as Saint Timothys Episcopal Church. The congregation, after a year of thoughtful deliberation and prayer, chose the name Saint Timothys Episcopal Church from a selection provided by Bishop Benitez. This decision wasn’t just about a new name, it signified the formation of a new identity, a shared path for a community seeking to serve God and spread the love of Jesus. Today, Saint Timothys Episcopal Church stands as a testament to this vision. It’s a place where the community thrives on the principles of discipleship and outreach, dedicated to serving God and reflecting the love of Jesus in all they do.
