Amidst the vibrant energy of Henderson, Nevada, stands Saint Thomas More Catholic Church. It’s a place where history whispers through the halls and faith finds a welcoming home. Saint Thomas More Catholic Church started as a mission in 1983. A group of dedicated individuals saw a need for a parish in Green Valley. They began holding services in a preschool. As their community blossomed, they moved to the chapel at Palm Mortuary in 1984. The Clerics of St. Viator embraced this growing mission. They sent Father Thomas Long to shepherd the flock. In 1986, the Diocese of Las Vegas officially recognized it as Saint Thomas More Catholic Community. Their first building, a multi-purpose center, opened in 1989. The church we see today was dedicated in 1996. Saint Thomas More Catholic Church has continued to grow and evolve. A daily Mass chapel and office complex were added in 1999. A community center with classrooms, offices, and a gift shop followed. The parish has been led by several pastors. It has also been served by numerous associate pastors and deacons.
