In 1929, a beacon of faith arose on Fargo Street. Saint Teresa of Avila Church, with its Mission Revival exterior and Gothic interior, became a cornerstone of the community. The church wasn’t the first place of worship on this site. A temporary church preceded it, built in 1921 to serve the growing congregation. This original structure later transitioned into a parish hall. Then in 1949, it made way for Saint Teresa of Avila School. The school initially housed grades 1 through 6. Later, they expanded into the basement of the school, adding three more classrooms. Although the school no longer operates, its legacy remains a part of Saint Teresa of Avila’s story. The church also saw the construction of a new rectory and parish offices in the 1960s. These replaced a smaller, older house that had served the church’s administrative needs. Saint Teresa of Avila Church stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of faith and community. It continues to serve its parishioners, offering a place of worship and connection.
