“A powerhouse for spreading the gospel.” These words echo through the history of Saint Philip Church of God in Christ, a beacon of faith and hope in the heart of New Orleans. It all started in 1946 when the late Pastor Henry M. Evans founded the church. The church was renowned for its strong connection to spreading Christ’s message of healing. For decades, Elder William Lynch, known for his knowledge of the scriptures, led the church with unwavering dedication. In March 2021, a devastating fire struck, displacing the congregation just months after Elder Lynch passed the torch to his son, Pastor Martaz Lynch. Despite this setback, the church is physically and spiritually rebuilding, demonstrating resilience and unwavering faith. Saint Philip Church stands as a testament to the power of community and the unwavering spirit of its members. Their dedication is not just limited to a church building but extends to their city. They serve their neighbors, working tirelessly to share Christ’s love. Their efforts to create a house of prayer open to all have not gone unnoticed, inspiring the hearts of those who come through their doors. Today, Saint Philip Church continues on its journey, building a new chapter in its history, an exciting new chapter that promises to continue the legacy of healing, hope, and unwavering faith that defines this remarkable community.
