The parish isn’t just a building. It’s a testament to the enduring power of belief. Officially, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Arusha was established in 1963, carved from the Diocese of Moshi. But the seeds of faith were sown much earlier, in 1926. Holy Ghost Fathers, missionaries from Kilimanjaro, answered a call and ventured into Arusha. They established a mission in the area then known as Mesopotamia. This humble beginning blossomed into St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Parish. Over time, this parish evolved into the vibrant heart of the Archdiocese of Arusha we see today. The archdiocese, overseen by Archbishop Isaac Amani Massawe, encompasses a vast area and serves a large Catholic population. Here at Saint Monica Parish, that history comes alive.
