Established in 1965 the Saint Michael Antiochian Orthodox Church initially served a small congregation in northeast Las Vegas. Father John Nicholas arrived in 2001. He found a community of fewer than sixty families. The church’s growth was remarkable. By the time of the new building’s construction the congregation had expanded significantly to 195 families. This impressive growth necessitated a move to a more central location. The new Saint Michael Antiochian Orthodox Church building is situated at 6336 West Post Road. This location proved much more convenient for everyone. It serves the northwest Las Vegas residents Green Valley and Henderson. The church’s services are well-attended. Divine Liturgy is held every Sunday at 10:00 am. Orthros begins at 9:15 am. The Saint Michael Antiochian Orthodox Church is part of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East. It’s also under the Archdiocese of North America and the Diocese of Los Angeles and the West. The church’s growth is a testament to the community’s faith and dedication. It reflects the vibrant religious life of Las Vegas. The new building’s design pays homage to the church’s ancient Middle Eastern roots. The architect collaborated closely with Father John. This ensured the structure accurately reflects the church’s rich heritage. The Saint Michael Antiochian Orthodox Church is more than just a place of worship. It’s a vital community hub. It offers a sense of belonging and spiritual guidance to its members. Its story continues to unfold within the ever-evolving landscape of Las Vegas.
