Saint Mary & Saint Mercurius Coptic Orthodox Church’s roots stretch back to ancient times. The Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria founded it. Saint Mark the Apostle established it in the first century. He also wrote the second Gospel. The word “Coptic” comes from the ancient Egyptian word “Hekaptah.” It simply means “Egyptian”. This church has carefully preserved the Orthodox Christian Faith. It remains unaltered. It stays true to the Apostolic doctrines.

Founded on January 6th 2010 Saint Mary and Saint Mercurius Coptic Orthodox Church first met in a more humble location. By June 26th 2016 the church found a permanent home here. This move marked a significant step. It allowed the church to expand its services.

This church belongs to the Diocese of Pennsylvania and Affiliated Regions. H.G. Bishop Karas leads the Diocese since November 11th 2017. Pope Tawadros II appointed him. The Diocese includes Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and West Virginia.

But the church isn’t just about history. It’s about community. The Coptic Youth Center is a vital part. Pope Shenouda III said “A church without youth is a church without future”. The CYC provides a spiritually healthy space. Here children can grow in their faith. It offers a place to learn about God. They enjoy fellowship together.
